SEA Games: Archery

The archery events are non-ticketed and will be held in the Kallang Cricket Field.

Date: June 10 - 14, 2015
Time: 10am - 4:30pm/5pm/5:30pm

Spectators will be admitted on a first-come-first-served basis, subject to venue capacity. Admissions begin an hour before the start of the competition.
There are 10 events for the 28th SEA Games Archery competitions:
  • Recurve Individual (Men’s and Women’s)
  • Recurve Team (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed)
  • Compound Individual (Men’s and Women’s)
  • Compound Team (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed)
Recurve and compound refers to the type of bow.

The recurve bow has tips that curve away from the archer when the bow is strung. You may have seen it in movies like Lord of the Rings (Tauriel's Bow). It stores and delivers more energy than a straight-limb bow, which allows archers to use a shorter bow in dense places like forests.

The compound bow is a modern bow uses that uses levers and pulleys to improve efficiency and accuracy. It's only been in existence since the 1960's.
